Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 7/15/20

Race 4- Maiden Special Weight (Purse - $55,000)

11 Florida-bred 2-year-old fillies will travel five and one-half furlongs in what should be a spectacular race. Five of the starters have at least one meet in hand and there are several quality first-timers. #9 Sophistcurl is making her fourth career start and has finished third in each of her last two starts. The daughter of Ride on Curlin, who finished second in both the Preakness Stakes and Arkansas Derby, has shown early speed in each of her last two outings so expect her to be among the top flight at least in the early going. Samy Camacho, who has a 53% WPS percentage with 2-year-old runners this year, gets his third consecutive ride on Sophiscurl. #11 Whistler Dixie was able to get up for show in her debut despite being a step slow out of the gate in debut on May 21. Whistler Dixie also has had strong workouts recently. Plus, jockey Victor Lebron and trainer Tim Haam, whose horses have won 19% of their races at this distance on the dirt, have a solid working relationship -- recording a winning percentage of 34% together this year.#7 Frankly My Dear was second in her debut a few weeks and she is a serious contender here as well. #2 Causingahullaballoo, #3 Gulf Coast Gal, #5 Raining Sunshine, #6 Battle Cry, and #8 Naval Wave are quality first-time runners who could crack the top 3.

Picks: I like a win bet on the #9. I also like a exacta/trifecta box of #9, #11, #7.

Race 5 - Maiden Special Weight (Purse -$47,000)

Seven horses -- just one first-timer -- look to break their maiden in this five-furlong spring on the turf that should also be very competitive. #6 Justcuzifeellikeit moves back into the Special Weight class after registering his best ESpeed (82) and finish (third) going six furlongs versus $50,000 maiden claimers on June 7. The 3-year-old Kentucky colt, who has shown the ability to close recently, also showed some ability against optional $75,000 claimers two starts back. Samy Camacho, who has four wins and seven cashes in his last 13 starts, gets the ride on Justcuzifeellikeit. #4 R Ninja J K has been pretty consistent in his two career races, finishing second after sitting just behind the leader in both of the races against $12,500 maiden claimers. So, while the 4-year-old Florida gelding is making his first race on the turf, it is his third career race at this distance. #7 Reinoanimaux showed tremendous improvement in his last outing, posting an ESpeed of 87, despite finishing eighth going one mile on the turf in his first race at this level. The 4-year-old gelding gets the outside post and is the fastest horse in the field with an early ESpeed of 85. Reinoanimaux is making his fourth start on grass. #1 American Phenom is making his first start under the direction of Rohan Crichton, who claimed the 3-year-old colt after a solid fourth-place finish going five-furlongs on the turf in his debut on March 5.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #6, #4, #7 here.

Race 9- Allowance Optional Claiming $12,500 (Purse - $47,000)

Seven Florida fillies and mares 3-years-old and upwards will go six furlongs in what should be a fantastic race. #6 Loriloupies is looking for her third straight victory after coasting to a nine-length victory against $50,000 optional claimers while registering an 87 ESpeed following nearly a three-month layoff. It was the daughter of Rattlesnake Bridge’s second straight race where she showed improvement and her first race at the current distance. Jockey Emisael Jaramillo has won five of his last 10 rides.#3 Jeana’s Gem has been pretty consistent, recording an ESpeed under 70 just once, and is coming off a career-best ESpeed of 84 while finishing a distant third after getting bumped early in her last outing against $16,000 optional claimers. Expect the 5-year-old mare, who has shown improvement in each of her last two races, to be one of the horses setting the pace in this one. #4 R U Royalty had a successful May as she followed her maiden win in the Special Weight class with a second-place finish -- where the 3-year-old Florida filly actually won before being disqualified -- versus $25,000 claimers going one mile on the dirt. R U Royalty is making his second start at this distance and owns a 50% WPS percentage in four outings on the dirt. #5 Thissmytime showed exceptional improvement the last time out in breaking her maiden as she nipped Starship Voyager by three-quarters of a length.

Picks: I like an exacta box of #6, #3. I also like a win bet on #6. I also like a show bet on the #3.
