Free Picks For Gulfstream Park - 8/20/20
Race 5 - Allowance Optional Claiming $16,000 (Purse -$47,000)
10 Florida-bred fillies and mares will go one mile on the turf. This could be a very good betting race. #7 Centsless Drama has produced the two best races in her last couple of outings, recording a top 2 finish in each event. I expect the 4-year-old filly, who has finished in the money in five of seven turf races, to be in the top flight of racers like she generally is. While #8 Night Watch has not reached the podium since March, she is arguably in the best form of the current racing campaign. #1 Bareback Fun, who will likely have a high price tag, is making her debut at Gulfstream after struggling mightily at Tampa Bay. But the 3-year-old filly has been training exceptionally well at Palm Meadows which includes going four-furlongs in 47.55 seconds in the last workout session. #3 Sweet Story also has not gotten many results in 2020 but the 7-year-old turf veteran runs well at this distance. #4 Dance Til Dawn and #2 Amadora should also be considered.
Picks: I like a winning bet on the #7. I also like an extreme value bet on #1.
Race 6 - Maiden Special Weight ($47,000)
Seven fillies are slated to go seven furlongs in what should be a battle to the finish. I expect #5 Tiz Enough to finally breakthrough for a victory. The 4-year-old Florida filly is coming off two of the best races of her career -- finishing second and third respectively -- and she has run well at Gulfstream. Tiz Enough should benefit from what should be a slow pace. #3 Katama Moonlight is perhaps the most talented horse in the field but she is racing for the first time in nearly a year. Saffie Joseph Jr. had the 4-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon flying around during her recent training sessions, so well I wouldn’t be surprised if she won the event. #3 Puppet Master is primed for an improved performance after finishing third in her debut at this level. I wouldn’t be surprised if #1 Venzualean Champion who is moving to the special weight division after finishing a distant fourth against $32,000 -$30,000 maiden claimers.
Picks: I like an exacta box of #5, #2. I like a winning bet on the #5. I also will put a value bet on the #1.
Race 8 - Allowance Optional Claiming $25,000 -$16,000 (Purse - $30,000)
Eight 3-to-5-year-old fillies and mares will go six furlongs. This should be a fantastic race. #8 Over Gators will look for some revenge in this one as the 4-year-old Florida filly was caught by #5 Baccarat Fashion in the stretch after setting the pace and leading the majority of the meet at this distance and level the last time out (July 30). Jockey Miguel Vasquez, who has won 44% of his last 25 rides, will look to get Over Gators to the winner circle for the third time in eight career races. Baccarat Fashion is looking for consecutive wins for the first time since doing so last September and October. The 5-year-old Kentucky mare runs well at this distance and has finished in the money in 50% of her starts at Gulfstream Park. Baccarat Fashion also has recorded five top 3 finishes in seven allowance optional claiming events.#1 Cory Gal, which was also involved in the July 30 race, will look to avenge that performance as she got off to a slow start and finished fourth for the second consecutive race as a result. The 4-year-old Kentucky filly runs well at this distance and trainer Bobby Dibona has replaced jockeys, giving Samy Camacho the ride in this one.
Picks: I will go with an exacta box of #8, #5, #1.
