FURIA Preview
HLTV World Ranking: 8th
The Brazilian team of FURIA has been one of the most promising rosters in North American Counter-Strike. FURIA has repeatedly been a force to reckon with against the strongest North American CS:GO teams. FURIA is the 8th ranked team and with an average player age of 22.3 is one of the youngest rosters in the scene. FURIA has developed a strong and deep map pool over the past few months. With Mirage, Overpass and Vertigo in its map pool, FURIA has repeatedly put forth a strong CT side on most of its matches. Nuke is a problem for the team, but it is just one map and FURIA can easily avoid it with the map veto.
Team Liquid Preview
HLTV World Ranking: 6th
Team Liquid had a commendable performance against 100 Thieves when EliGE and Team Liquid won the series in two straight maps. EliGE in particular had an outstanding individual performance with a KDA of +30 and sixty-two eliminations across two maps. Team Liquid started off this online season of CS:GO on a decline. The players were in poor shape and online CS:GO allowed opponents to take risks that they would not have taken under normal circumstances.
That being said, the team has achieved a new level of consistency in its most recent matches. Team Liquid’s recent matches include victories over Gen.G, Cloud9 and more recently, 100 Thieves. These are some of the best North American CS:GO teams and TL’s consistency over these teams is a ray of hope for Liquid fans. Team Liquid’s best map is Dust2 and the next in line is Nuke. The individual skill level on this roster allows for the players to use the improved firepower to their advantage on Dust2.
Pick: FURIA ML (-180 @ Bovada)
Team Liquid’s best map is a common veto for the Brazilian roster. With FURIA sporting an extensive and deep map pool, the Brazilian squad will have a huge advantage. FURIA placed second at the ESL One: Road to Rio North America, just behind MiBR. In the last four head-to-head matches FURIA has emerged victories over Team Liquid. I expect the outcome of this match to be no different.
