Latest Proposal from MLBPA offers 89 games and a 16-team postseason

At some point, there will be a baseball season played in North America. Will it be this season with 100 games, 75 games or 50 games? Or will the season be cancelled at some points because both sides don't agree. The latest proposal by the players has an 89-game season with full prorated pay, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

This came after the owners proposed a 75 percent prorated pay and a 76-game season.

But give the players credit because this was a compromise to a 114-game season they offered two weeks ago with full prorated pay and expanded postseason.

Obviously baseball players want to play, but more than a 50-game season. On June 8, owners moved their proposal to 76 games so they are getting close.

It all comes down to money. The MLB's proposals would pay the players around one-third of their full-season salary. Either way, the players are not going to make a full-season salary, but they want to make more than a 1/3. The owners are going to lose millions of revenue with no fans (likely) in attendance. The MLBPA proposal for 89 games would run from July 10 to Oct. 11, according to Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal. In that case, the World Series wouldn't overlap with the NBA Finals.
