UFC on ESPN 13 Odds, Prediction and Preview

UFC on ESPN 13 brings mid week Octagon action following the company’s triple championship pay-per-view offering.

Featherweight contenders Calvin Kattar (-290) and Dan Ige (+245) headline a promising Wednesday night card featuring twelve scheduled matchups.

Not far removed from his controversial split decision nod over Edson Barboza, Hawaiian native Ige looks to run his unbeaten streak to six. Meanwhile, “Boston Finisher” Calvin Kattar hunts another TKO after flatlining durable Jeremy Stephens in May.

While each fighter has found winning momentum at MMA’s peak, Kattar poses the greatest threat of any Ige opponent. Long for 145 lbs, 32-year-old Kattar has TKOd his past four victims. Not a noted finisher, the smaller Dan Ige will set pace but eventually fall into a huge Kattar strike late in this five round main event.

Take Kattar by TKO

Ryan Benoit (+100) vs. Tim Elliot (-120)

After positive COVID-19 tests cancelled the original UFC on ESPN 13co-main, TUF 18 champion Tim Elliot makes another Octagon walk, this time vs. fight two dance partner Ryan Benoit.

Benoit is 3-4 since joining the UFC in 2013. “Baby Face” has alternated wins and losses during that span, most recently dropping a split decision opposite Heili Alateng.

Likewise, Elliot fumbled his latest Octagon bid after tapping from a well-placed Brandon Royval arm triangle choke. The former Titan FC Flyweight champ and UFC title challenger has lost three consecutive.

However, styles make fights. That stated, Benoit is an aggressive striker but lacks refined grappling. Veteran Elliot has been TKOd just once through his winding career and possesses the wrestling and submission chops to outgrind Benoit.

Look for Elliot to win via decision after rag dolling Benoit.

Cody Stamman (+120) vs. Jimmie Rivera (-140)

Many view fight three between 135 lb contenders Jimmie Rivera and Cody Stamman as the card’s rightful main event lead in.

Rivera has dropped consecutive firefights against the 135 lb division’s two top competitors. “El Terror” looked sharp for long periods before absorbing fight-changing damage against Peter Yan.

Cody Stamman looks for quick turnaround victory after touching up Brian Kelleher last month. The touted wrestler flashes good boxing and is physically strong at 135.

However, as his frame expands, at 30 Stamman drains himself to hit the Bantamweight limit while walking around between fights at 175 lbs and 12 percent body fat.

Expect Rivera’s pinpoint hands and elusive movement to be a bit much for Stamman as Jimmie Rivera leaps back into the win column this week.

Fight number four pits Molly McCann (-115) against Brazilian Talia Santos (-105).

Santos looked flat vs. fading Mara Romero Borella almost 18 months ago. While the 27-year-old gained UFC entrance via DWCS, and boasts ten paid TKOs, that Borella loss speaks volumes.

Considering the circumstances, proven Octagon commodity McCann should employ deeper MMA tools Wednesday to nab her fourth UFC win in five appearances.

Mounir Lazzez (+245) vs. Razak Alhassan (-290)

The UFC on ESPN 13 opening fight promises fireworks as noted slugger Abdul Razak Alhassan welcomes Octagon newcomer Mounir “The Sniper” Lazzez.

This welterweight clash is almost guaranteed to end in concussive TKO. Each of Alhassan’s paid MMA wins come via knockout. Likewise, Mounir Lazzez has finished eight of ten lower level paid opponents.

After being away for almost two years, expect comeback mastery as Alhassan quickly renders his lightly experienced opponent unconscious.

Take Razak Alhassan via TKO

The undercard portion of UFC on ESPN 13 offers seven meetups which highlight up-and-coming talent. The following rundown gives a quick look at odds and probable winners for each fight.

-Khazmet Chimaev (-245) via unanimous decision vs. John Phillips (+205)

-Ricardo Ramos (-175) via stoppage vs. Lerone Murphy (+155)

-Modestas Bukauskas (-255) TKO vs. Andreas Michailidis (+215)

-Chris Fishgold (+120) via decision vs. Jared Gordon (-140)

-Liana Jojua (+140) via decision vs. Diana Belbita (-160)

-Jack Shore (-600) via TKO vs. Aaron Phillips (+450)

-Kenneth Bergh (+100) via decision vs. Timo Feucht (-120)
