The PLAY: Golden State Warriors -11.5 (-110)
That was a nasty curveball thrown late in the afternoon yesterday by the Warriors and Steve Kerr, announcing that Steph Currry, who had recently returned to active duty and expected to play last night, was being held out instead vs. the Lakers. Meanwhile, LeBron James, held out of the previous Lakers game vs. OKC and doubtful last night, ended up featuring for LA. Steph-out-and-LeBron-in changed the whole narrative as LA would cruise 119-103.
Kerr, however, did stress that Curry would play tonight in Sacto, which the Dubs seem to be using as an effective dress-rehearsal for the West 9-10 game at either the Clippers or Blazers next week. With Jimmy Butler long since sidelined, Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield now in Atlanta, and Kristaps Porzingis a game-to-game proposition, Golden State simply lacks manpower and has lost 24 of 36 since Butler went down, with Steph missing more than two months as well. Yet at least we know Curry features tonight.
The Kings did stay within 5 at Chase Center on Tuesday and have surprised with a few wins in the past month, but almost every player of consequence has been shut down for the season, and included in recent efforts are losses by 17 to Brooklyn (Brooklyn?) and 29 points on Sunday vs. the Clippers. We use the Dubs -11.5 at Golden 1 Center and wouldn't want to lay beyond 12, but at our price will stick with Steph version of GS tonight. Play Warriors
