Toledo has been one of the MAC's most consistent programs, posting 16 straight seasons without a losing record, and I expect that trend to continue in 2026. While the Rockets enter a new era under head coach Mike Jacobs, he arrives after building a winner at Mercer and has already brought impact talent with him. That includes Buck Buchanan Award winner Andrew Zock, the nation's top FCS defensive player in 2025, who should immediately strengthen Toledo's defense and is a legit NFL prospect.

The schedule is favorable, with likely wins against Central Connecticut State, UMass, Buffalo, and Eastern Michigan already putting the Rockets halfway to the number. I also believe Toledo has a better chance of upsetting Michigan State than most projections suggest, and there isn't a single game on this schedule that the Rockets will be dramatically outmatched. They probably won't run the table, but they have a legitimate shot to win every game they play. My projection is at least 8 wins at the worst.
